Looking for a great place to visit? My hometown is Hampton Virginia. I was a military.
brat, Dad worked at Langley AFB, and we moved there in 1970. A great place to grow up
and now a great place to go home to visit my 90-year Mom!
There are so many great attractions in Hampton. My favorite place is Buckroe Beach,
on the Chesapeake Bay, a clean, uncrowded, and awesome beach. Only one small hotel there, you would look for a private home rental (there are many!).
Visit the Virginia Air & Space Center downtown, The Center features over a hundred interactive exhibits, a 3-D IMAX theater, and thirty historic aircraft, including the Apollo 12 Command Module. Lots of history in the area, including NASA training. A great way
to educate and learn about our space program.
Fort Monroe was an Army base (when I was a kid!), It has a real live mote and great museums dating back to our history in Virginia going back almost 400 years.!
Another MUST-SEE! I go here on every visit home. So cool!
You could easily spend a week of vacation in Hampton, The downtown is full of restaurants and locally owned shops unique to the area. Newport News is the closest airport, PHF. You could also fly into Norfolk or Richmond, all within a 90-minute drive.
Virginia is a beautiful state, with lots of history. I highly recommend it!
Enjoy the Journey!
