Fishing Poles What you need to know

Updated: Jan 14

Going Fishing? Taking a flight to your favorite fishing hole? Here is what you need to know.

Allowance and requirements:

Fishing Rods can be checked as baggage. The case can hold up to 2 rods and 1 reel. Fishing tackle, landing net, fishing boots, and waders are allowed.

Standard bag rates will apply. If overweight or oversize, extra charges will be applied. Check the website of the airline you are traveling on for more information.

You are allowed to carry on fishing rods as long as they fit the carry-on standard, usually 22in x 14in x9in. It will count as your one carry-on. No other bag will be allowed to be carried on.

That is standard for major airlines. If you have an oversize pole, check with the airline before you take it to the airport!

Enjoy the Journey!

Happy Travels!
