Newport is a seaside city on Aquidneck Island located 33 miles southeast of Providence RI. It is famous for its historic mansions, golf, tennis and sailing.
It was a major 18th-century port city and also contains a high number of buildings from the Colonial era.
A must see if you are a study of American History. The gilded age was an amazing era of wealth of a by-gone time. The elite of the time made their summer homes there. The historical society has done an incredible job of restoring these late 1800 early 1900 homes. AMAZING!
You can fly into Providence RI or Boston MA.
